Divine Description of Shukra Dev (Venus) in Vedic Astrology

Shukra Dev, the radiant planet Venus, is the celestial embodiment of beauty (saundarya), luxury (bhoga), sensuality (kāma), and refined wisdom (shukra jñāna). His name literally means “bright” or “pure”, reflecting both his luminous appearance and his spiritual depth. He is fair in complexion, adorned in fine garments, and rides a white horse or chariot drawn by eight white horses — a symbol of refined desires harnessed by discipline and divine purpose.

In Jyotish Shastra, Shukra rules over the zodiac signs Taurus (Vrishabha) and Libra (Tula). He is exalted in Pisces (Meena Rashi), where his worldly beauty merges with divine love. He governs Friday (Shukravar) and is associated with love, wealth, romance, art, music, poetry, marriage, feminine energy, and material comforts.
