Shani Dev, the Lord of Karma (Karma-phala Daata), is the slow-moving sentinel of justice and the guardian of cosmic order (Rita). With a dark, radiant presence — symbolic of introspection and austerity — he rides a crow or a chariot pulled by black horses, representing the power to see into darkness, to endure, and to transform suffering into strength.

As the son of Surya (the Sun) and Chhaya (shadow), Shani represents the shadow aspects of life — solitude, detachment, endurance, and limitation — not as curses, but as sacred tools for inner awakening.
